Hygiene Items To Help You Bloom Well
Hygiene insecurity—the profound challenges individuals face, particularly women and girls, when they lack the financial means or physical access to essential personal care and menstrual products, appropriate sanitation facilities, and adequate hygiene education. This multifaceted issue not only affects physical health but also has significant implications for emotional well-being and social participation.
Hygiene insecurity among non-white women is a racial justice issue rooted in systemic neglect. Ohio’s stark disparities reflect national failures to prioritize menstrual and hygiene equity as a public health imperative. Addressing this crisis requires centering non-white voices in policy design, dismantling economic barriers, and treating hygiene access as a fundamental human right.
Since December 2023, we have collected, sorted, and distributed hygiene items to women across the Greater Dayton area. We started hosting monthly packing parties with volunteers from across the Dayton area. Today, we host quarterly volunteer days where community members help pack items, write cards to women and children in hospitals, and help distribute items. We also recently launched our online request form for monthly deliveries.
